How Hypnotherapy Can Help with Pain Management
I help lots of my clients to get to a place of balance in their lives, and this is even more important when you are living with chronic pain. Managing pain and living with a chronic illness is time consuming and can take it’s toll on you mentally. Whatever stage of life you are at, dealing with a daily or regular pain is very challenging and can lead changes in how you live your life.
Hypnotherapy can help you to:
- Work through the emotions you may experience when dealing with a new diagnosis
- Help you create a management plan
- Find new perspectives and ways to move forward, and dare I say it, silver linings
- Increase a sense of control and reach a place of balance
- Learn how to implement self-care into your daily life
- Improve your ability to cope with pain management techniques
- Use mindfulness and breathing techniques to let go of the pain
- Use hypnosis to help you increase your confidence to embrace the new challenges in your life
Hypnotherapy and Natural Pain Relief
Hypnosis and hypnotherapy are free from side effects. As long as there are no contraindications, hypnosis is a natural pain management tool. One of the many parts of our work together involves practicing deep breathing techniques. Breathing correctly allows the body to release hormones and endorphins, which allows us to fully relax. Often we tense up our muscles when we are in pain, or if our bodies feel under threat. The fear associated around the pain we might feel can cause further tension in our bodies. A large part of our work involves talking and releasing the metaphorical weight off our shoulders, but also physical tension which makes pain worse.
Management of Mood and Lifestyle Changes
Alongside the talking therapy and hypnosis, we work on all areas of your lifestyle. This ensures that you approach the issue holistically, rather than simply dealing with one area. It also ensures that the changes are manageable and that you are in control of them. The hypnotherapy treatment is something which we work on together, in partnership. It is not something that is done to you to fix a problem. This way we can make sure that the adaptations that you make are sustainable and permanent.
